I thought this was very cute. Full story here. The bears, of course, had a mission. Sensors were attached to the bears to monitor temperature as they rose through the stratosphere (attached to helium weather balloons) so the team could determine what materials provide the best insulation against freezing temperatures experienced on the flight. School children were asked to help with making the suits.

Ahhhaaa that is soooo cute! I bet it will scare the bejezus out of the Martians (Unless they decide to cuddle, LOL)

Luckily, the bears are safe from the martians. The weather balloons popped so they landed back on earth about 50 miles from their launch site. :)
